The "40 Lazy Hours" event was great this weekend. I wish it was still going on.
I don't want to go back to the non-communal laziness.
I'm already having withdrawals...

The Lazy Will Begin
For financial reasons, our Young Adults Group had to cancel our reservations at the place we usually do our winter retreats. We didn't however, want to lose the momentum that is gained by having people away and getting to know each other better over a weekend, so we proposed doing something in its place.
"40 Lazy Hours" begins tomorrow. A group of about 15 of us that will be staying two nights at my parents house, simply being lazy. My lazy days of college are now becoming a part of my ministry. Awesome.
Looking forward to grilling out in the snow, lots of Eggo waffles, and all the fun.

Refreshing
There are few thing that would feel less refreshing than the combination of a facial hair trim, haircut, and then a long hot shower.
Now that i have added my most comfortable lounging pants, favorite sweatshirt and warm slippers, i feel as refreshed as possible.

No Motivation
I simply didn't bring the intensity level of normal to the workout tonight.
I made it through the motions, even broke a sweat, but didn't bring the level of intensity I am used to.
I didn't have much motivation to do the workout, which doesn't help, but at least found the discipline and will power to get through it instead of skipping it. The last couple days have been this way. Hopefully I'll swing back around to normal soon.

No Longer LOST
Spent a decent chunk of the day today watching all the episodes of LOST i hadn't seen from season 5 now that they are all available for free online.
All caught up now. Hope the last season answers lots of well raised questions.

Everything's Peachy
Today went well.
Got my workout done before the Colt's game started so it could get my undivided attention. That Manning guy is unbelievable.
When that game finished, I ate some dinner and then met up with some friends to go snowboarding. When the Vikings have a playoff game, there aren't many people out on the slopes. We had a blast snowboarding tonight with no lines on the lifts or people to cut you off on your runs down.
Looking forward to seeing if the Colts can get another Superbowl in the Manning era.

Odd
I find it odd that my most draining day physically (Thursdays) is also the day that takes me the longest to wind down from, thus, disabling me from any immediate sleeping.
Why can't the brain and body be on the same page?

How To Lead as Myself
It's weird for me to think that I've been in positions of leadership fairly consistently over the last 10 years or so, yet am still trying to figure out who I am as a leader.
I've found myself in certain cycles of leadership, hopefully learning from each of them, and have just started scratching the service of what my unique leadership style might be.
I'm generally a person who is well aware of what I enjoy doing, am comfortable doing, am gifted at doing, hate doing, struggle with doing, and so on, but leadership is something I haven't been able to figure out yet.
I've noticed what I respect, wish I was, hope to be, sometimes even think I am, but never with the certainty to figure out what type of leader I actually am.
I wouldn't know what to expect as an answer if those I currently "lead" were asked to describe what kind of leader I am.
I hope, as time continues, and my life likely leaves me in "leadership" in lots of ways, that I can come to be comfortable in, and understand, what leadership looks like in my skin.

That Was Hectic
I'll sleep well tonight as today's schedule was quite hectic...
Drive Jenny to work, go to work and begin preparing message for Thursday.
Staff Devo's, then working on advertisement for Young Adults Info.
Two hour ministry meeting, printing and cutting advertisement into postcards, begin working on visual for next teaching series (powerpoints and stuff).
Drive to pick up Jenny, cook dinner. Eat, relax for an hour, head to coffee shop for event for local college students. Come home, do hour long workout.
Time to relax now. That was hectic. It all went well, just a hectic day.

Ouch!!!!
I hit my pointer finger on my right hand with a hammer today.
Right on the tip.
It hurt a little when it happened, but bled a lot.
It is very tender now.
Typing is interesting.
Enough so that i'm done.

SnowBoarding Round 2
Another night on the hills.
No trips to the ER this time, for me or anyone with me.
Still don't seem to have much fear, but still can't figure out how to stop/turn/carve on my front edge.
Getting really comfortable flat and on back edge though.
Also, first time riding on my board, instead of a rental. Had a friend wax and sharpen it for me tonight, which meant it was a lot faster than last week, that took a little getting used to.
Looking forward until the next time.

Nosebleed's
I usually get a couple nosebleeds at each drastic season change, from dry to humid and back.
This year, my first didn't come until today.
In fact, i'm sitting on the couch with something stuffed in my nose right now.
Kind of uncomfortable, but helpful nonetheless.

Trouble at Hand
Spending 2 and 1/2 hours in a Barnes and Noble can sometimes be hazardous to our budget.
Somehow, today, I made it without purchasing a single book. I read from 4 that I would have wanted, probably grabbed 10 off the shelf at some point, but somehow they actually all made it back on the shelf.
Maybe I'm sick.

Random Run-Ins
I ran into someone from First Baptist (where I used to work and attend) Church today who was walking through the halls at Grace Fellowship (where I now work and attend).
It was fun to catch up. After the small talk was over, they said the coolest thing:
"I really enjoyed listening to your dad read scripture on Christmas Eve. I don't know if he knew, but I snuck in just to listen to him practice beforehand. It was one of the most worshipful experiences I have had in a while."
I like these kinds of random run-ins.

Better than Cookies
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is roughly 14 times better than chocolate chip cookies.
That's just a fact of life you'll all have to deal with from now on.

Snowboarding Experience
This afternoon I got a text message that some of the Young Adults from Beyond were going to be snowboarding and they asked if I wanted to come along.
After rushing out to buy some better cold gear, then doing my workout, I made my way to the church to meet up. I was glad that another (Steve) would be snowboarding for his first time as well.
Snowboarding was fun. It took me two runs to get used to some of the balance and control, and I found my butt a lot, but had a great time. By the end, I was even going off the table box things and trying to do 180's.
Steve on the other hand, fell pretty hard on his last run. Enough so that as we left, our destination was his apartment to get his medical insurance card, then off to the ER to get x-rays.
He fractured his wrist and will look forward to left handed life for the next couple of weeks.
Steve then couldn't drive his car home from the church (it is a manual) so for the next couple of days, the dropping off at work that Jenny has been doing for me, will turn on its head as I drive her to work in Steve's car.
By Thursday, Steve will figure out a different vehicle situation so Jenny can get to work (I wouldn't be able to pick her up on Thursday) and we'll get our car back.
Was a very eventful evening.

Yippee for Thursdays
3 weeks since I had last been with the Beyond community of Young Adults.
It felt good to be back with them again.
It was refreshing for my soul to get to prepare and deliver a teaching again.
I'm encouraged by some plans for the future for this community and looking forward to seeing what it is that God does through us.

Bulking Up
I love the quantities that Sam's Club sells things in.
Who wants just 10 hot dogs, i'll take 30 please.
You can go ahead and give me 3 times the produce, 3 times the pizza, and 6 times the lunch meat as well.
Bulk is fun, especially when you hate grocery shopping, or at least grocery shopping the way that your spouse allows.

Pull-Up Training
Anybody have any good tips on how to get better at doing pull-ups?
It is easily the most frustrating part of the workout program so far, as it is the thing I can replicate the least, and one of the few things that has found its way into multiple workouts in this phase of the program.
Somebody give me the technique that I don't know, to make me good at these things.

Battling With My Body
Tonight was another night of the Yoga workout. It is a battle with my body in a whole different way than the weight training workouts are.
I'm guessing that this is going to be one of the most beneficial things for me as far as body function goes, as my flexibility and balance will continue to increase as I continue to try to do the ridiculous things that the people on the t.v. do.
Many of the poses I can do, but not near to the flexibility with which I wish I had.
My major two benchmarks may be in trying to do two of the poses that you are supposed to hold for a minute...
I've started ahead of the curve in that I can at least get into the pose, but both seem far fetched to hold for a minute.
One of which, The Crane, I haven't made past 15 seconds or so...
It's the fun picture below. I can do it for 10-12 seconds consistently and just rock back into it for 4 times to complete the minute, but holding my body this way for a minute seems like a good goal to have for the entire 90 day program.

I Guess That Was All of Them
My body is sore in lots of places from working out...
The house smells like paint fumes pretty strongly from paint on Saturday and Sunday in the attic.
I guess that was all of the weekend goals.
I guess I can sleep well tonight knowing they are accomplished.
