New Initiatives

Let's make the start of every month more awesome.  April currently wins because it opens with April Fool's Day where pranks can abound and companies use creativity to bring us pointless and financially wasteful entertainment (I always look forward to whatever Google will announce).

In an effort to make more days awesome,  I propose every month begin with a Fool's Day.

Happy February Fool's Day Eve.

1 Down

1 Sunday Morning class done for a while.  Next week, I'll only have to teach for an hour and a half, instead of the three hours its been for a while.

What will I do with all my spare time?

Far Off Plans

It's a ways away, but I've penciled in July 17th to preach the Sunday Morning services at Grace.  Lots can happen between now and then, and their may be opportunities before then, but right now, July 17th is on the calendar.

Feel free to put it on yours as well if you want.

I'll keep you updated if they change.

Maybe sometime I'll even find out if I'm supposed to teach as part of a series or if I get to pick my own topic.

Office Help

I got to help hire a new office staff member at Grace.

A decent chunk of their hours are now dedicated towards doing administrative work for me.  Makes me feel more important than I am, but will be nice to have the help, and delegate off some of the duties that are more draining for me so I can focus on the things I feel gifted towards more.

Let the hazing begin.

The "Dollar" Store

I browsed through a "Dollar" store this afternoon and found myself quite puzzled.  I found very few things that were actually priced at a dollar.

$1.25 seemed common enought.  Even 6 for $5.  But very few things at the $1 price.

Their cashiers must have more indepth math requirements now than they used to.

Axis and Allies

An extremely fun board game.  Also, maybe the board game that takes the longest to play ever.

6 hours in so far, we had to stop without a winner since people have to work on Monday.

Hope to finish soon.  Go Allies (i'm the United Kingdom)

5 Wonderful Years

Today marks the 5th anniversary for me and Jenny as a married couple.

Only a small number compared to what we hope, and to the examples of both sets of parents, but a fun milestone to celebrate nonetheless.

On to Manny's we go for dinner.

Yay for love!

The Price Is Right

My good friend, co-worker, office mate, and favorite worship leader was on t.v. today.

He happened to be the second name called of the first four on The Price Is Right.

Winning $10,000 ain't so bad.

You should head on over to CBS and check out today's episode, he plays and wins the first game.

If I Could....

Right now, if I could pick one part of my body that would re-grow if it was lost, it would be my right eyelid.

If that were the case, I would cut it off right now, so whatever is under it will stop bugging my eye and making it water.  A day and a half is enough of the watering eye.

Tongue Tied

2 Classes at an hour an half each.

1 Four hour meeting.

1 Two hour small group.

There is only so much talking a person can do in one day.  I got near my limit today.

My tongue is tied and my lips are parched, time to sleep it off and feel refreshed in the morning.

Yay for Winter?

Not often that I'm super excited it is winter, but today turned into one of those times.

Our sump-pump in our basement isn't working properly right now.  Most seasons that would mean our basement got flooded today as during parts of the year, our sump pump goes off around 50 times or so.

But in the winter, it doesn't accumulate water that quickly.  So, no flooding so far, and should have it fixed (read replaced) on Saturday morning.

Heat Helps

There haven't been a lot of times in my life that I've used a heating pad for anything more than to get warm.

Today, I actually needed it to help with some tense muscles that had been bothering me.

That thing works wonders.  I'll sleep much better tonight now that I can comfortably move my back and neck again.

The Season's Over

I've been grieving the last couple of days.

The Colts Lost.

It's hard to talk about, another football season over.  I don't have a lot of stake in any of the teams that are left, but, lucky for me, fantasy golf started last week.

That's right, you heard me, fantasy golf.

More and More Convinced

Every day I get more convinced that the truth of God's Word permeates every part of life.

If you look around, you can see principals and explicit examples of what God revealed to us through His scriptures.

I get the joy of spending much of my professional time looking for said things and pointing them out to others.  Many times, I don't even care how much the others agree with me, I'm simply blessed to have seen how God's truth is evident everywhere.

More Jumping

Got to jump another car today.

This time, it was in -18 windchill weather.

Suppose I can thank my parents for making sure they trained me to both, always have jumper cables in my car and always have gloves in my winter coats.

I didn't get cold and was called to the task because I was the only one anybody confidently knew would have jumper cables in their car at the office today.

Some life lessons do stick...and come in handy.

(side note to dad: while the hood was open, I checked the oil on the Escape)

NT Survey

This week I start teaching a Survey of the New Testament class.

Curious what kinds of questions will come up from people as the things they want to know about the New Testament.

Anybody care to clue me in by letting me know some of the things you would hope are covered in a class like that?

Fabulous Start

Day 1 of the New Year, in bed until 1:30.

Day 2, taught a class for 8 people about starting out their Christian faith, as they had just made that choice within the last 3 weeks.

Day 3, filled with fun and junk food....weeeeee
