Touch Boundaries

I debated with myself today another identifier of relational closeness.

The car goodbye. I was saying bye to someone this afternoon who, at a social function the normal goodbye would have been a hug.

However, this was a lunch meeting that ended with me being dropped off at the Seminary.

This brought the car goodbye.

A hug in a car requires an entirely different level of closeness. We were not that close. That makes the goodbye awkward.

I don't know what it is about sitting that makes a hug more intimate, but it helps me clearly define another level of intimacy with those around me.

My Favorite Miracle Story

There are numerous miracle stories told about the life of Jesus throughout the four Gospels.

This one has always been my favorite.

Jesus Heals the Official's Son
43After the two days he left for Galilee. 44(Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.) 45When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, for they also had been there.

46Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.

48"Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe."

49The royal official said, "Sir, come down before my child dies."

50Jesus replied, "You may go. Your son will live."
The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, "The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour."

53Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." So he and all his household believed.

54This was the second miraculous sign that Jesus performed, having come from Judea to Galilee.

Posture Pontifications

I have found myself in a particular posture more frequently lately.

Unfortunately, it is the posture of burying my head in my hands. Not the shame kind. The sad, or depressed, or "pity me" kind.

The Job Hunt is taking its toll on my emotions. I wish it was sadness of getting rejected for jobs, at least that would be a start. Instead, I have only found two spots worth sending my resume to. One of them would even be difficult to take if the job was offered.

So I go to meetings, with professors, mentors, friends, old acquaintances, internship advisors, anyone who will listen hoping for encouragement. But too often I leave, come home, and put my head in my hands.

It's taking its toll.

Feel free to pray for me... I don't know exactly what for, so pray whatever you want.

Gimme Back My Hour

I'll take daylight savings time when I can actually use the outdoors.

Until then, I'll take my hour back please.

I'm never a fan of losing sleep. I think that if I am going to be forced to miss an hour, I should at least be able to play golf when I get up.

Someone make this law for MN please.
