My life is lived within parenthesis. My life is not about me, though it may contain some interesting points. The main point is far outside myself and rests with my God/Savior. I seek to tell His story in a different way, a way that you'll understand, a way that will move you, and in a way that draws you into relationship with the Hero of the story.

I need your answers.
One question, I'm curious. Please answer.
What is the most important thing a church needs to be successful?
Commitment, which I believe is needed for success of anything. Different people have different agendas for belonging to a church, so it's important to meet the needs of the members - even though those needs vary by indivuals. So why do I attend church each week? I don't immediately know the answer as I'm not one to analyze WHY I do things beyond it's the right thing to do (that's why I find it amazing to read your blog, Nathan - your personality type is much different than mine - what motivates you isn't the same thing that motivates me. You seem to enjoy analyzing the WHY, while I am satisfied with the WHAT). My first thought as to why I attend church is because that is how I was raised - attending church each week to thank God for all He has given to me. I could (and do) thank God daily, but one of the Ten Commandments tells us to Keep Holy the Sabath. So, I attend church, as I wish to live the Ten Commandments (and you had an interesting post about the Ten Commandments earlier). At this point in my life, I also want my children raised in a faith, but I attended church regularly before children. That's not to say that I get as much out of church as someone with other reasons for attending. But I am committed.
Sincerity and following Christ's example and teachings. No "downgrading" others but hope for the future and love for all humans. Avoiding hypocrosy in deeds and actions when compared to Christs Word.
People that are passionate about prayer. If you aren't seeking and listening to the Lord and inviting Him to reign supreme, what's the point?
ReplyDeleteA sense of community where people feel welcome and "at home."
ReplyDeleteA church needs to have a basis in Bible teachings and the ability to relate the Bible to us today.
