My brother is getting married in October. This has brought the opportunity for many firsts for me. One of those is dress shopping.
Until recently I had never in my life been dress shopping. However, Jenny wanted to get a new dress for Jason's upcoming wedding which meant I ended up dress shopping.
After two unsuccessful hours at the outlet mall last week, we headed to the largest mall in America today to try again. And try we did. For another two hours. By the end, I was exhausted from dress shopping. I couldn't take it any longer. Here is what is funniest to me, we left today, with no dress, but with the success of knowing what outfit Jenny will wear to the wedding (unless she takes the liberty of changing her mind). That even meant she bought something new, from the first store we looked in (which for a man would have meant we only would have made it into one store).
I've been learning a lot about shopping from Jenny with the shoes and dresses she had needed recently. I don't actually hate going, and sometimes even enjoy it, though i'm convinced that guys are more efficient shoppers than girls.

Ok, let me set the story straight...
(and I guess this could have been a whole blog on it's own)
Guys and girls shopping styles are not efficient or non-efficient, they are simply different. If all I had to decide was what color of long sleeve button up shirt and a tie, then yes, I could do it in one store and 15 minutes or less. But I'm a girl and that means I can't just look for a color.
Also, yes I wanted a dress, but in the event that I couldn't find a dress I wanted to find a new top to go with a skirt I already own. Because I am a girl I have different, eh ... parameters to consider. At Nordrom's website you can actually "shop by body shape" (I don't see many guys trying to figure out if they are an apple, a pear, a full bust, straight or an hourglass). Since I am a pear many dresses don't fit well and the reason even my husband told me a certain dress did not make me look good (I was glad for the honesty, really).
So, the dress search was unsuccessful and those I did try on did not fit well. I was then forced to take option two, which was getting a new top. And get a new top I did. Yes, it was found near the beginning of our search, and I was glad to go back and get it. I look gosh, darn good in it and I am excited to be able to wear it again sometime.
All that to say...I appreciate that my husband does enjoy shopping with me. Though he may be confused, I just cough it up to the fact that he is and will be confused by me for the rest of our lives. He may not understand, but he still enjoys me anyway....Thanks Love!
