While in Kentucky for the funeral this weekend, we also visited some other family members. One such place was the nursing home where my mom's father is staying. While he was getting ready for bed, many of us headed into the hallway to wait, and some of the workers became curious who this group might be.
After investigating and finding the friendly faces they knew, they were introduced to us all.
One such worker continued:
"Who married her?"
"I did." I responded.
"You've done well, she's gorgeous."
"Trust me, I'm well aware that I married up."
At this point, Jenny began blushing. It was very amusing to all of us. Conversation continued like this until we all began walking out of the nursing home.
The worker continued to compliment Jenny on her looks, and me for picking such a good one. When she realized she'd been going on about it for so long she stated:
"Don't worry, I'm not gay or anything, I'm married to, but just look at her."
I won't forget this statement. I won't let Jenny either.
It took Jenny a while to return to her normal shade, but eventually we all had a good laugh at the situation.
