Have you noticed that you use vocabulary that people who don't work in your field would not understand?
I am convinced that this happens in all fields of employment. Now that I think about it, they are often very easy to understand, they are just shortenings or combinations of terms that might be frequent in your line of work.
I can remember the first time I heard the phrase "evangelastic" to describe a preacher stretching the truth. I knew it was a term that would be in my field.
I was blessed to add some new vocabulary from a friend's line of work tonight.
I will begin using the word "cremains" in daily conversation.
Cremains are the ashes of a person who has been cremated. The cremation remains, shortened for someone who works in the funeral home business and has to speak of these things often.
It was one of those things that when said, I knew came from a job, understood it, but didn't know if the person who said it understood that it wasn't common vocabulary.
It will now be part of my vocabulary.
Do any of the rest of you have fun words I should learn?
