Productivity Software

What kinds of programs do people use to be more productive?

Though I'm talking about old fashioned things like filing, to-do lists, budgets, etc... I'm only looking for software responses.

Have you found any particular programs highly useful and effective for certain tasks?

Programs like Post-It, Evernote, Quicken, etc...

The free-er the better.

I have found that Quicken is a great program to keep up with all of my finances. Turbo Tax is also good for once a year usage.

FreeMind; a mind mapping program is good for organizing thoughts in a free form way, and then creating relationships between those thoughts. Available on Download.com. I have some examples if you want to see them.
