3 Years ago today was my last day at the last job I held.
June 30, 2006 I was officially done being a youth pastor at First Baptist Church.
It has been 3 years.
That is fitting. Today, June 30, 2009 I was offered my next job.
I'll be working with the young adults group at Grace Fellowship Church. I start next week.
The first two years went by quick for me. The last year has taken some patience to get through as the ebb of life has been lower than higher at many times.
I'm excited to rejoin the consistently employed world after my 3 years, to-the-day, hiatus from it.
congratulations!!! God's timing is always perfect :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to read the wonderful news on the job offer! Congratulation, Nathan! I expect Jenny is also very happy and excited for you. How many hours per week will the job be? Will the job entail preaching at Sundays services? If so, do you now have to change churches to worship at Grace Fellowship Church? Approximately what age group defines 'Young Adult'? Does this include both a singles group and 'non-singles' group?
ReplyDeleteThe job entails working with the Young Adults Group. That age is defined as 18-early to mid 30s.
ReplyDeleteIt is defined by an age group and not by marital status, so they are all bundled in together.
Jenny and I have officially begun to worship their on Sunday mornings, though I currently have no responsibility on that day. It isn't far fetched to assume I may end up helping out with some things on Sunday mornings and would consider any opportunity to teach, whether a class or preach a sermon an honor.
The job is currently half-time, though the history of the church has shown that they hire many this way and as hard work is shown it is rewarded with a transition into full-time employment. While that would be nice, Jenny and I can survive comfortably without it.
