Favorite Drink

What is your overall favorite drink?

Today, we went to Sonic, the best place to go for a plethora of drinks. Jenny and I did not choose the same thing.

Regardless, my favorite drink was not offered at Sonic.

My favorite drink is Fountain Coke with Grenadine to make a cherry coke.

What is your favorite drink?

Egg on My Face

Sunday afternoon I was pointing out a bump on my ankle to Jenny. It had been there roughly a week. Never bruised, never hurt.

She at one point called it a "big bump" which I took offense at. I could remember "big bumps" the size of eggs on my forehead as I had bruised it clumsily before. Yes, it was an egg size bump that sticks out as big in my mind.

Oddly enough, later that same day, during a soccer game we were playing in, Jason's leg had a collision with the cleats of a player from the opposite team. The result ended up being an egg size (or slightly larger) bump on Jason's leg, just below his knee.

Jenny got to see what I meant, as Jason provided the perfect visual from my afternoon conversation.

I don't think his pain was worth it, but Jason stopped at nothing to make my conversation complete.

5 Hours Later

I sent my father up onto the roof of my house today. He wasn't allowed to come down for 5 hours.

He drank roughly 160 oz. of water while he was up there.

I was in the midst of running things up to him, taking things down from him, and working below him in the attic.

Amazingly, the attic was stuffier, hotter and more uncomfortable than the top of the roof.

There is no longer a chimney sticking out the roof of our house, nor is there a whole where the chimney used to be. One patch and a couple shingles later, the roof is as functional as we ever want it, and we shouldn't have to go back up on it again. Ever.

All that work, and we never had gushing blood, though a large piece of chimney did drop onto my foot after removing it from the chimney with a sledge hammer.

Puzzle Solved

Since we accomplished today's puzzle, we are graduating to far more difficult things.

With a sheet of plywood happily up the stairs into the unfinished attic, work on finishing the attic takes form tomorrow with the beginning of taking out our chimney and the patching of the roof that will be necessary upon its removal.

Should be a fun one.

A Different Kind of Puzzle

We have one goal this afternoon.

It is like playing a childhood game of put the correct shape in the correct hole.

Today's shape is a 4' x 8' piece of plywood, and the hole is the door that goes to our attic.

Here is to hoping we can solve the puzzle without the removal of any existing walls.

Good Idea

Anytime this is Jenny's idea for a way to spend part of the evening, I have had a good evening:

Not Really Dinner

We have been grilling out for meals a lot lately.

Tonight, I grilled hamburgers again for dinner.

Before I began that, I asked Jenny what she wanted for dinner. Her response was "two tylenol and a neck massage."

I didn't think that counted as a meal but she insisted.

I guess that means hamburger was dessert.

A Weird Time To Be Bored

I got bored at the strangest time yesterday.

With about 15 minutes or so left in the soccer game I was playing, I suddenly got bored.

I subbed myself out of the game, not physically tired, not needing a break, just bored of playing. It was strange.

I've played soccer for a long time, played in blowout games, close games, competitive games, relaxing games, and never gotten bored.

Yesterday, I got bored. I didn't know what to do, so I sat down and let some other people play.

I'm Not Natalie

I opened an e-mail today that was intended for someone named "Natalie."

I knew who had sent it, and I also knew it was a mistake that it went to me.

It was aimed at someone "with love" who he would be calling tonight, and happened to be sending a picture of himself to.

I'm assuming that he started typing Natalie's name and chose the first e-mail that popped up, which happened to be for Nate instead of Natalie.

Ahhhh..... college students and their love.

It was a cute picture of him smiling for his crush.

I was honored to receive it, send it back, and let all of you know about it.

This Little Piggie

Can someone tell me what you are "supposed" to do when you reach the last toe while doing "..this little piggie.." to someone's foot.

Jenny's ending was different than I ever remembered when she told me I had done it wrong.

Don't Know Who To Pull For

With Tiger out of the field at the British Open this week, I don't know who to root for.

I usually default to Aaron Baddely as my other favorite, and would enjoy that, but part of me wants to listen to a Sergio Interview after winning.

He would know doubt thank Tiger for not showing up.

Either way, I wish the live feed was A) on network television and B) not at 5 a.m.

Summer Post

A friend posted her “summer blog” and asked what other’s might look like.

I was too lazy to think on my own tonight, so I just answered the questions for myself instead.

Drink Of The Summer: Lemonade is my drink if at home, water if at the soccer field or on the golf course.

Snack Of The Summer: My year round favorite snack is popcorn.

Television Show Of The Summer: Sunday afternoon golf is my favorite, though Big Brother is in the running.

Movie Of The Summer: So far this summer, I would have to say Indiana Jones as I’ve only seen a couple of new movies this summer. I’m guessing that within a week, Batman will take over this spot.

Website Of The Summer: Espn. In the fall that will transfer to a mix between Espn and Yahoo Sports as football begins.

Book Of The Summer: So far it was “Evil and the Justice of God” by N.T. Wright.

Song Of The Summer: That stinking Toyota Rav 4 commercial’s “First there is a mountain…”

Clothing Item Of The Summer: Cargo shorts and a T-Shirt.

Destination Of The Summer: The Golf Course.

Emotion Of The Summer: Relaxed.

Chloe added two herself that I will answer anyway.
Household Product of the Summer: Propane gas for quick cooking on the grill.

Pest of the Summer: Rabbits. They keep eating Jenny’s plants. We got a trap but have yet to set it up. Don’t worry, it is a humane trap.

What's your post of the summer look like?

I Lost One

My grilling adventures of the summer took a fatal turn today.

I lost a burger between the grill spokes.

It was the first, and hopefully only grilling casualty of the season. I celebrated by eating some of his brothers, and adding their cousin corn to the mix.

After the meal, I removed the body from the scene and buried it.

His "cremains" now rest in my trashcan.

Peer Pressure

Jenny and I had a short conversation about peer pressure today. It was mainly about how we see peer pressure affect some of the people around us in certain areas of life, yet I realize that I fall to peer pressure far too often.

I can think of people that I'm far more likely to use "colorful" language around, or those that I'm more likely to pray around, or those that I'm more likely to say please and thank you around.

I can think of people I'm more likely to eat vegetables around, to wear different clothes around, even to fake happiness or excitement around.

It isn't that these things happen everytime, but I must admit that I too fall to peer pressure.

It makes me wonder how "individual" we really are.

The Lingo at Work

Have you noticed that you use vocabulary that people who don't work in your field would not understand?

I am convinced that this happens in all fields of employment. Now that I think about it, they are often very easy to understand, they are just shortenings or combinations of terms that might be frequent in your line of work.

I can remember the first time I heard the phrase "evangelastic" to describe a preacher stretching the truth. I knew it was a term that would be in my field.

I was blessed to add some new vocabulary from a friend's line of work tonight.

I will begin using the word "cremains" in daily conversation.

Cremains are the ashes of a person who has been cremated. The cremation remains, shortened for someone who works in the funeral home business and has to speak of these things often.

It was one of those things that when said, I knew came from a job, understood it, but didn't know if the person who said it understood that it wasn't common vocabulary.

It will now be part of my vocabulary.

Do any of the rest of you have fun words I should learn?

Most Important Survey Ever

Tonight's dessert confirmed something for me.

We got Blizzards from Dairy Queen.

Jenny tried the new Thin Mint, while I had the Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, which only confirmed for me that I should have stuck with my favorite Blizzard instead of trying something different.

I would now place Reeses third, behind Cookie Dough (second) and the almighty Butterfinger which cannot be beaten in my book.

So how about you...

What is your favorite Blizzard flavor?

Bad Timing

We decided it would be enjoyable to take a walk. After getting halfway around a rectangle of a couple of blocks the rain started.

The baby didn't complain about getting wet, but he was also promptly changed into dry pajamas when he got home, the ones with the footsies.

Jenny even borrowed a shirt from her sister so that she could feel dry again.

Nate sat downstairs, in the air conditioning, drenched and cold.

It was a case of bad timing, and I had no choice but to suffer through it.

Salads Desire Meat

Our Church had a Salad Potluck today as a unity meal. Jenny was very excited about it, as she craves salads often.

I eat my fair share of salads, usually chicken ceasar, and I have decided that salads are better when they include meat.

That is, save for one salad. The one salad I was most looking forward to, and was desperately hoping would make an appearance at the salad potluck today.

I was fortunate that it did, to find out later it was brought by the senior pastor's family.

Snicker's salad.

It is a wonderful creation.

Hitch Hikers Away

Jenny and I golfed 18 holes with my parents today.

Jenny had only golfed 15-16 holes in her life to this point. She over doubled that output.

Jenny very much enjoys driving the golf cart, even playing some of my games like "Hitch Hikers Away" where the passenger has to get back in the moving golf cart or "The Ball Drop Game" where every golf ball being picked up needs to be picked up by the passenger hanging out of the moving cart.

Overall, it was a great way to spend the afternoon.

For those curious, we even had a tour guide on the trip ready and willing to tell us and then show us where all the large rocks might be.

Anybody Watching?

Jenny and I have been watching So You Think You Can Dance pretty regularly this year.

I'd love to talk about the show if anyone else is watching it, otherwise, I'll just ignore the conversation if no one else is watching it.

Regardless, can someone tell me how "Contemporary" dance is to be defined? It seems so much more random than anything. I can never tell if someone is dancing it well or not, because there seems to be so little technique to critique.
