The Good and Bad of a Sports Day

Let's start with the bad.  Italy's national soccer team won today putting them through to the finals of the Euro 2012 tournament.

They are my second most hated soccer team (France has the honor of first) so I was hoping they would lose.  Now I'm hoping Spain will wipe the floor with them in the finals.

The good...The Kentucky Wildcats had not just the top pick, but the top two picks in the NBA draft tonight, and all 6 players that declared were picked tonight (4 in first round, 2 in second) making them still as awesome as they were all season.

A Great Weather Day

Not too hot, not too cold.  Not too windy, not too cloudy.

The weather today was enviable, so I made sure to enjoy it.  I spent the morning golfing, the mid-afternoon in meetings, but then the evening at the ballpark (Target Field) celebrating a birthday.

Overall, about 8 hours outside, while only 4 or so inside of the good weather hours I was out of bed for.

Tomorrow's schedule doesn't allow for as much enjoyment of the outdoors, so the weather can be poor tomorrow.  I'd be okay with that.

Empty is Good Too

After a couple of weeks of very full calendars, today marks the first day in a long time that both Jenny's and my calendar were free from activities.

The weeks were filled with good, garage sale fundraisers, missions trips, work, time in California, and normal  meeting routines, but the Empty Day feels good too.

There is already a nap being taken, and I haven't gotten out of my comfy pants yet.

I'll enjoy today, then tomorrow, there is good stuff on the calendar again.

Taking a Straw Poll

So the plan is still that I'll be preaching the Sunday morning services at Grace Fellowship on July 8th.

There wasn't a topic assigned to me, and I want it picked soon, so this is part of the process.  Our church is in a summer series called "You Asked For It" where we had our congregation write in topics they would want to hear a message on.

There wasn't one planned for my day (I wasn't forced one) but I decided to look at the "leftovers" that didn't make the series.

This initially narrowed me down to four topics: Prayer/Hearing God, Confession of Sins, The Importance of Praise/Worship, and The Value of the Old Testament Laws for Today's Christian.

I asked a couple of other staff members and they've helped me narrow it to: Confession of Sins and The Value of OT Laws for Today's Christian.

Their voting has not been unanimous since that narrowing though, so I'm looking for more voices.  I'm interested in what you would want to hear a message on, why you would want to hear it, and if you have any, a follow up question on the topic you would hope is addressed.

Overcome with Writing

I occasionally feel guilty at my recent neglect of this blog.  I wish it was still more regular, and plan on it returning to that regularity soon.

In the meantime, I've been writing some things for my church, working on "the book" for an adoption fundraiser, and writing answers/filling out adoption paperwork.

Why it isn't apparent that I've been doing a lot of writing based on my recent blogging frequency, I've actually been overwhelmed with it lately.

Hopefully sometime in the next few days I get to write up a recap of my trip to California for you all.

For now, I'm heading to bed.
