"The bigger they are, the harder they fall."
There are times, where being big seems like a bad thing. Hard falls wouldn't be much fun. Given such, finding yourself small can feel pretty good.
I've recently felt small. Every time someone asks me for an adoption update and tells me how they have been praying, I feel a little smaller. I feel more awesome as well, but I realize, there are more people aware, involved, and invested that just me. My part shrinks a little.
When we get e-mails, phone calls, or mail that someone is donating money, it makes me feel smaller. Another role in the story is being played by someone else. And my part shrinks a little.
And while my investment doesn't shrink, and my heart actually grows in the process, I find myself feeling less likely to suffer a hard fall.
Sometimes I like feeling small.

Soccer in Full Swing
Soccer season is about to be in full swing. Preseason has officially ended. In the course of 5 days, we had 9 practices, 2 classroom sessions and 2 scrimmages. We followed that up with tryouts, more practice, and a third scrimmage and find ourselves looking forward to our first game that counts coming this Friday.
I'm surprisingly less tired than I thought I would be. I took some days off of work at the church last week to handle the 3-a-day practice schedule a little better and that has helped a bunch, so even though I go into work earlier than I normally would now (since I have to leave early for practice) I find myself not to sleep deprived.
We'll see how this keeps up for the rest of the season. Good thing is, the soccer season is a short one, and in two months, it will be winding down.

In The Zone
I can't always pick them in advance and wouldn't have been able to tell you before tonight's message, but sometimes a preacher just feels in the zone.
If I wasn't aware of the clock, I could have preached for a long time tonight.
That feeling doesn't always mean that it is going well and being received well by those who are listening, it just means I feel really alive, in a unique way from the other times I preach, and would want that to continue.
Tonight I could have easily preached for 2 hours. Instead, I gave it a little extra from normal and went for about 45 minutes, and I enjoyed each moment of it. Now I just hope some other people got something from it as well.

Global Leadership Summit
This will be my fourth year attending the Global Leadership Summit. I'm excited. Each year I've gone in with expectations for it to re-energize me and help make me a better leader.
Even though I've set those expectations high before, this event hasn't ever let me down.
I'm guessing that over the next two days, I'll have many moments that stick out as worthy to ponder, as inspiration, as thoughts that will affect the way I do my job and live my life.
Looking forward to the two days, even though they start earlier in the morning than I would like.

Ebay Adventure
In my life, I have purchased just a few items from Ebay.
I've never sold anything there, but I'm thinking that might change.
A couple of the things laying around our house have become items people find worth bidding on at Ebay, and now is as good of time as any (actually better than most) for a few extra bucks to show up.
Anybody have any useful tips on Ebay selling?
